Story
As a recruitment agency, Dixon connects people with employment opportunities, which in turn provides them with a level of financial security.
We are keenly aware that there are vulnerable groups of people within our community who do not have access to paid employment. This includes people seeking asylum and refugee status in Australia, who often have no support network, no right to work in this country and therefore no way to support themselves.
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation supporting people seeking asylum. Currently the ASRC has approx. 1,500 people per week relying on the ASRC Foodbank as their primary source of food. 80% of these people have no income at all, and for them the foodbank is their only path to food security.
Providing food is one of the most tangible and immediate ways to assist someone in need, and Dixon is committed to running a food drive for ASRC each year. Last year our team aimed to fill 20 bags but achieved 39, so this year our team is aiming for 40 bags throughout June! A bag filled with the grocery list provided by ASRC costs approximately $45.
We’d love you to participate if you are able to do so. This easiest way to support the ASRC food drive is by donating the equivalent cost of a bag to Dixon Appointments ASRC donations drive. Dixon Appointments will match all donations made by our community - up to a total of $5,000.
The ASRC is an independent not-for-profit organisation and donations over $2 are tax deductible.

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement.
As an independent not for profit organisation, we are owned and run by our community. Our programs empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well-being. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia.
We assist over 7,000 people seeking asylum each year from our centres in Footscray and Dandenong, Victoria.
